TV Show, “Person of Interest” Features Female Bounty Hunter in Its Latest Episode

It is not often that crime dramas feature kickass female bounty hunters, but Person of Interest did so on March 24, 2015. In this CBS sci-fi series, the lead character, former CIA Agent John Reese, is alerted of imminent terrorist threats based on the findings of an omnipresent artificial intelligence surveillance system. He then goes to work to disrupt the terrorist plot and protect those whose lives are in danger.

When the life of Frankie Wells, a stunning female bounty hunter played by the Canadian actress Katheryn Winnick is threatened while tracking down a criminal, Reese steps in to help.

The show started out harmlessly enough with Wells playing a hostess at an illegal, underground casino where she was investigating a shady character named Ray, who was wanted for multiple charges in Florida.

As it turned out, the investigation was personal for Wells. Ray had actually killed her brother, and now Wells was plotting her revenge with plans to assassinate her brother’s killer. Person of Interest took some liberties when it came to how Wells’ pursued her brother’s killer, as bounty hunters normally play by the rules and conduct their business in a highly ethical manner. Ultimately, she was dissuaded from assassinating the man and the killer was brought to justice.

While most actresses lack the physical skills of the character they portray, Winnick’s background is highly suited for her to play a bounty hunter. She has a second-degree Black Belt in Karate and a third-degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Strangest of all, she is even a licensed bodyguard!

Overall, her portrayal of a bounty hunter was a positive one that should serve as a role model for women who are interested in this type of career. Both intellectually and physically resourceful, the character of Frankie Wells is highly inspiring and it would not be surprising if she made an appearance in future episodes.
